Grow Your Real Estate Business Through Blogs

Monday, October 6th, 2008

When setting up a communications plan for your real estate business, a blog is a great resource to use.  Anyone who is capable of typing an email or office memo can publish a blog.  You can use a blog to create an online presence even if you are not extremely technologically advanced.

A blog can help to increase your chances of being pulled up in a search engine search.  There are several reasons that this happens.  Blogs are generally updated frequently and many search engines  rank sites in an order of popularity or most recently updated.  They may also keep record of every time someone links to your blog, thus increasing your popularity standings as well.

So how do you find these readers?  It is difficult to remain focused on writing at the beginning when you have few or no readers.  You write but are not sure that anyone is actually reading.  Unfortunately, that is how it is when you first begin your blog.  However, keep in mind that part of the work you have to put into your blog is attracting readers.

You have to earn those readers over time.  How do you earn readers?  You cannot simply start a blog and expect them to find you.  You have to find a way to make your blog memorable and to make it something they will want to visit over and over again.  Consider using the three steps outlined below to put your blog in the category of qualified reading.

First of all, you have to create a blog that is actually worth viewing.  Make it worthwhile for readers to subscribe to your blog.  Don’t simply lift content from various places on the web and put them in your blog postings.  Instead create content that shares your blogs purpose and your own personality.  You need to make your blog something that readers actually want to read.  Determine who your intended audience will be and create content that is relevant to that audience.

Secondly, you need to make it fairly easy for readers to subscribe to your blog.  It can be extremely helpful to use an RSS freed.  RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication.  Using RSS subscription buttons allow readers to easily subscribe.  For example, visitors who have their own Yahoo webpage can click on an “Add to Yahoo” button on your blog site, and your blog will be added to their page via your RSS feed.  Each time you make a change or update to your blog, it will also automatically update your blog information on any subscribed readers’ pages as well.  If you are unfamiliar with RSS, you can do more research on the topic.

Finally, you need to develop a regular schedule for posting and do so with good, quality content.  You want people to find information that they can actually use or information that they will want, such as local property listings, helpful hints, and other real estate news.  Turn your blog into something that is not only interesting but it worthwhile to the readers.

Increasing Website Traffic Through Blogs

Saturday, October 4th, 2008

It is no secret that blogs can do amazing things for a business.  Now we are beginning to realize just how powerful they are and how they can work to increase traffic to your website in no time.  By implementing some of the strategies below, you can do this quickly and easily.

What is a blog?  It is a place for you to share your thoughts, ideas, and vision to the world.  Reading blogs has become a hobby for many, and they use it to glean information on various topics.  If you can hook in these readers, you could potentially have up to one million website visitors a day!

First of all, you need to be aware of the template used to create the look of your blog.  Create a large banner to be placed in the center of the top of the page. This shows people quickly what the blog is about and who is running it.  This can be a great hook to catch people from the first time they view your site.

Choose carefully the look of your site because a person’s initial impression will come solely from how aesthetically pleasing your blog is.  If you do not want to take the time to create your own template, you can find many templates available online that are free or cost a very small amount.  Use your favorite search engine to find these templates and look around until you find the one that is perfect for you.

Next, you need to work on content for your site.  What is content?  Content refers to the articles or postings that you write and publish on your blog.  You can use some sort of blogging software that will help you in easily creating content and publishing it.  You can also scour the internet for article sites that will provide content at little or no cost and will allow you to post these on your site.  Having relevant content will help your site maintain a strong readership by always offering them something new and interesting.

Finally, you can use pinging services to help draw people to your website.  Pinging notifies the most popular search engines each time you make a change to your blog.  This helps to move your blog up in the ranks of popular websites, making it higher on the list of ones which viewers find first.  You can find a number of websites that offer pinging services for free, so look around before selecting one.

There is no way to create a successful blog overnight.  It is a combination of hard work and interesting content.  If you will take the time to create a unique template, write strong content, and use available pinging services, you will have no trouble increasing website traffic over time.  It is important to stay focused and not allow yourself to get discouraged too quickly.  Once you build a readership, you will be able to keep them as long as you are regular with postings and make sure that the information you provide is relevant.

Networking With Blogs

Thursday, October 2nd, 2008

In the past, people relied on websites for networking.  Today, however, the newest thing to hit the internet craze is the blog, or web log.  It is fairly easy to create a blog to journal, talk about events, express your thoughts and ideas, or do just about anything you want.  Without having to have a website yourself, you can create a blog that is hosted by a mass blog website.

Blogs really hit the public scene during the 2004 presidential election.  The reason is that it gave many people a place to be heard both as a journalist and political commentator.  However, that type of blog is not always right for everyone.  If you consider using a blog for your own networking purposes, you can use it as a sort of diary or a place to share your expertise on a particular topic.

Blogs can be updated quite easily and are hosted on a website, so you do not have to worry about any lack of knowledge in the area of sites themselves.  You may find that you can use a blog instead of a newsletter and it would actually reach more people because it could be viewed by anyone searching for keywords contained in your blog.  This means more profit, if you are using your blog as a money making device, because you make more money when you reach more people.

But what are the benefits of your own blog?  First of all, you are giving people a chance to know you and learn from you.  In a sense, you are generating a clientèle or following.  Secondly, you give others an easy way to recommend you.  They only have to provide a link to others to tell them what is great about you!  Finally, it helps you to stay on top of things and become a cutting edge expert.  You will have to do some research to make sure your topics are fresh and interesting, and this will help you to know what is going on in your area.

Once you decide that networking with blogs might be right for you, how do you get started?  There are three things that are most highly recommended for beginners to do before jumping in headfirst.  Consider the following tips.

First of all, take the time to read other blogs.  Do a search on your favorite search engine for blogs related to your potential topic.  See what else is out there.  This will help you to see what types of things are being done in blogs that are successful and what things are being done in blogs that are not doing as well.  Consider emailing blog owners and asking for guidance and assistance.  In many cases, blog owners are more than happy to help and are not as competitive as one might assume.

Secondly, research and read up on RSS.  RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication.  It is one of several ways to publish your blog online.  You can search for a free RSS reader in your favorite search engine and use it to kelp keep track of the blogs you are reading.

Finally, start a blog!  Some prefer to create their plan ahead of time while others want to start it up and go with the flow.  If you are prepared to take some time up front to get set up, you’ll be ready to roll in no time!
